Born in Vietnam, I immigrated to the U.S. with my family and spent my childhood and adulthood in Greensboro, North Carolina.
I earned my Bachelors of Arts from Guilford College. While in College I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
I have a small studio in Greensboro that I work in part time.
I believe the role of an artist is to help relieve our existential dread that we deal with in our daily lives in the modern world. I think this reconciliation is most accessible through the classical and naturalistic styles of the old masters such as Bouguereau, Church, Caravaggio and the like. Undoubtedly it would be wrong to conceal the nasty and grotesque occurrences of the world, but it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be represented in a way that gives humanity some dignity in our suffering. For that reason I continue to try and bring that same spirit in my own drawings and paintings.
